Desha Hearn has been a member of the Exchange Club of Donelson Hermitage for 19
years. She has held offices of Secretary (2 years), President-Elect (2 years), President
(3 years-2 of those were back-to-back) and Immediate-Past President (2 years).
The responsibility of the immediate-past president is fundraising for their club’s project.
In 2006, they had had a car show for 19 years that had pretty much ran its course. As
you can imagine it was weather dependent with all the cost was upfront regardless of
anything. Desha suggested going in a different direction with a Field of Honor for
Veterans Day. Their club agreed and In 3 1/2 months, their club held their inaugural
Field of Honor. Their field is on the ground of Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage with the
posting of 1,000 flags in honor or memory of American Veterans This year will be their
tenth year and to-date, it is the only Field of its kind on a presidential site.
On a personal note, Desha has been married 35 years to her husband H.A. They have
one son and the cutest grandson you have ever seen
